This sort of thing is exactly why I say “queer” instead of using initials. Because you can keep adding more initials all day and you’re still going to be leaving people out that should be counted and you can take initials away like those people never counted to begin with. And it’s very easy for cishet people to ignore any of those letters individually and still act like they’re an ally.

“Queer” may have negative roots, but it seems to be generally accepted as an inoffensive term today and, I think, more reflective of sexuality as a spectrum. I wouldn’t mind a better word to use without those negative roots, but I just can’t think of one.

And don’t forget conflating trans people and drag queens.

There’s no law against saying things like, “we should all get together on courthouse squares across the country for collective action next weekend” that would persecute Lemmy. But people are no longer interested in collective action, it seems.

Republicans control all three branches of government. There is not a chance they will give any of that up voluntarily. And people still think elections will be in any way fair and free.

Because they think nothing through. It doesn’t occur to them when they say trans women will rape girls in bathrooms that cis women can rape girls too. It also doesn’t occur to them that forcing everyone to use the changing rooms of their biological sex because “women are uncomfortable with a man changing next to them” means that they will be changing next to people who sure as hell look like men what with the no breasts and the beard. I’m guessing that will make them a hell of a lot more uncomfortable.

Please keep telling me there’s no genocide of queer people in America. I hear that on Lemmy regularly these days.

Well you thought wrong. I was born and raised in the U.S. and lived there until about two weeks ago when we fled.

And in my 47 years in America, I was never in a situation where I couldn’t say, “no thanks” if someone invited me to a restaurant. And who invites you to restaurants and makes you pay?

I think that there were no Nazis left to run the party by the 1980s and Germany was still fine.

“As little as possible” and “not enough” are two different things.

Most newspaper websites do that. Pretty much all the TV-based ones, including Fox News, do not.
