Is that Le Poisson Steve by any chance?
BurntWits@sh.itjust.worksto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Someone else will retire me when the time comes.3·5 days agoI’ve heard nothing but great things about Red Wing and apparently there’s a store nearby, but they are out of my price range. I’ve considered saving up for a pair but wasn’t sure it would be worth it. Maybe I’ll finally check them out, try a few on, see what the hype is all about. I know they’re supposed to last a very long time. Everything you’ve said I’ve heard, I just don’t know if I can stomach spending that much on footwear.
Also, I used to work with a Brent who nearly crushed my foot under a pallet not much lighter than what you said so I feel that for sure. Thankfully he missed though.

Looks like Canadians are the true followers of Christ.
Context
July 1st is Canada Day, which is a national holiday. It’s Canada’s version of July 4th.
I’m in the opposite situation. All my friends are either single or in casual relationships, meanwhile I’m married with a kid coming very soon and two cats.
At the same rate, all my friends are either working in their field or doing their masters/post-grad studies, meanwhile I’m working a shitty job at low pay with no idea where to go career-wise so in that respect I feel behind in the whole maturity/life path thing. So I guess it balances out.

I find it weird that it’s an expectation but I don’t think it’s weird that some women like to do it. My wife wasn’t going to change her name, but decided last minute to take my name because she wanted to share a name with any kids we’d end up having and we both agreed we’d want our kids to have my last name. Now we almost have our daughter (our first) and she has no regrets. But I wouldn’t have been upset if she kept her name. She’s got a far cooler last name than me anyway. Maybe I should’ve taken hers. Oh well.
What’s the price of a dozen eggs on average in the states? I’m Canadian and generally assume everything is more expensive up here but our egg prices really aren’t that bad, at least compared to the complaining I here of down south.
