you think trump thinks his second term is the end of his time as “most powerful person in the world”, after all the indictments and prosecutions still pending? i’d love to have your sort of confidence in what’s going to be left of the tatters of our democratic institutions and military readiness in 2029. i truly think it has something to do with breaking the world, allowing it to suffer, and then remaking it how he (and vlad) want to, celebrating it’s rebirth. they’ve got an open field now, with no one capable of stopping them. what does trump need from putin, nothing, what does he want, everything.

“got away from”? what universe are you living in right now, all of trumps nominees, no matter how utterly incapable of performing in the position to which they will be assigned are being rubber stamped by senate republicans as we speak. got away from? republicans have been promising to burn the whole thing down since the civil rights act of 1964. got away from? this is who republican are, and have been since appomatox.

And here I saw this as Trump wanting to prove to the country and rest of the world, he’s loco in the cabeza, and that he wanted to make Canada dance by punching them squarely in the nose publicly, while his true target was China (trade) and Mexico (drugs and immigration), so he threw Canada in, to see what he could shake out of their pockets with zero effort. I get wanting to spin this as mockery of the bad man, and Trump is indeed a very terrible human being, but this isn’t a win for anyone, with a 30 day timer counting down, to placate a man who hurts entire countries just because he can.
