I like to keep the 3D printed look for spare parts, because its a good conversation starter and it often blows peoples minds if you tell them how cheap it was to produce. I was able to get at least 6 people into 3D printing now that way.

There are much better examples for long German words beeing short in English like

Toy = Spielzeug (Play Stuff)

Mall = Einkaufszentrum (Shopping Centre)

Sale = Schlussverkauf (End sale)

Matchbox = Streichholzschachtel (Swipe wood box)

Lighter = Feuerzeug (Fire Creator)
