Summary

Slovak opposition leader Michal Simecka has accused Prime Minister Robert Fico of preparing Slovakia to leave the EU, prompting a no-confidence vote that is unlikely to succeed due to Fico’s slim parliamentary majority.

Fico has criticized EU policies, halted military aid to Ukraine, and strengthened ties with Russia, including a secretive meeting with Vladimir Putin.

He has also warned of a potential EU “superstate” threatening national sovereignty.

Despite dissent within his coalition, Fico’s government is expected to survive the vote.

If national sovereignty is important to them, then they’re in for a rude awakening when they’re tied to ‘ol Vladimir’s mast.
